Understand normal C961 control behavior The display is the rider interface for turning the system on and selecting the available pedal-assist level. The motor’s internal cadence sensor detects that the cranks are rotating, rather than measuring pedal force. Assist can begin shortly after rotation starts and may continue briefly after pedaling stops. Higher assist levels request more assistance from the installed system. Where the display offers different level groupings, the selection changes how finely that assistance is divided. It does not alter the underlying motor hardware. A throttle can request power directly and may operate without pedaling, depending on controller settings. Keep the throttle clear during startup, parking, and lifting. Start testing at the lowest assist setting with the drive wheel clear. Release the throttle and stop pedaling to stop a motor request; test each installed brake cutoff separately before riding.
